Frankfurt Christmas fair

The Frankfurt Christmas fair is one of the most beautiful and oldest fairs in Germany. It is also one of the largest thanks to over 200 shacks. It was first referred to in 1393. Annually, it wraps Roemerberg, Paulsplatz and the old centre of town in a Christmas shack city with the magical smells of Feuerzangenbowle (flaming spiced punch), hot apple wine, roasted almonds, ginger bread and the traditional Frankfurt Christmas specialty 'Bethmaennchen' (a kind of marzipan ball cookie).

A silver fur tree, decorated with 5000 glowing lamps and placed in front of the Roemer, puts the city’s three million visitors in the Christmas spirit.

Besides the extensive event programme, the unique pealing of the Frankfurt bells can also be heard two days a week. Only four times per year are all 50 bells in the 10 city churches to be heard in unison.

If you have installed QuickTime, you will receive an impression of the sound produced on such days.

Note:
Please note Java or QuickTime is being required in order to show the 360°-Panorama-Views. Usually Java is already part of the operating system of a modern PC. We recommend you to use QuickTime which is supplied as part of modern PCs too as it is cost-free and reaches the highest multi-medial efficiency.

The recommended screen resolution should be 1024x768. The transmission of data can be accelerated by using a hyper internet connection with DSL or dual-ISDN (clustered channels).

Additional information for the use of QuickTime or Java.

The interactive 360°-Panorama-Views are captures of moments taken from a permanent position. As a user you might take free views moving to all directions around this position. You only need to move the pointer of your mouse to the requested position within the 360°-Panorama-View while keeping the left button pressed.

Most of the 360°-Panorama-Views are featuring a kind of surround sound to give you the impression of being "right there in place". So, just turn on your sound system a little bit louder and enjoy impressive experiences while viewing.
